What are Affirmations

For people who are not familiar with affirmations, they are short positive statements that motivate and encourage you. When you repeat these phrases continuously, they affect your conscious and subconscious mind.

You all must have heard the song “Titanium" by David Guetta ft. Sia. The soaring words of motivation and affirmation are perfect to make you feel invincible. My favorite line, “You shoot me down, but I won’t fall, I am titanium”, makes me feel as impenetrable as titanium.

An affirmation opens the door to a new beginning point towards change. When you 'do affirmations', it means you are consciously choosing words that will either motivate you or help you eliminate something negative from your life.

Affirmations are magic words.

Let me share a study with you. In 1990, Japanese scientist Masaru Emoto performed a few experiments to check the effect of words on energy.

When water is frozen and free from impurities, it will form beautiful ice crystals. Polluted water, on the other hand, will freeze without forming crystals.

Emoto poured pure water and polluted water into two vials each. He labeled pure water vials 'I hate you ' and 'fear', while he labeled polluted water vials 'I love you ' and 'Peace'.

After freezing the water for 24 hours, the vials with negative labels were not crystallized under the microscope: Instead of beautiful crystals, they were grey, misshapen clumps. The vials with positive labels produced gleaming, perfect crystals.

This experiment proved that energy generated by positive and negative words can change the physical structure of an object. [SOURCE: https://goop.com/wellness/mindfulness/the-scary-power-of-negative-words/ ]

Benefits of affirmations.

They re-wire your brain:

When you practice positive affirmations daily, it activates the reward centers of the brain (nucleus accumbens). This area of the brain is associated with rising dopamine levels. It gets activated when you have pleasurable experiences like eating your favorite food or winning a prize.

Evidence-based researches show that positive affirmations can help you re-wire your brain if you keep repeating the positive affirmations. Even if they are not true, we start believing its message.

Decrease your stress levels

An increase in stress levels can cause high blood pressure, a bad mood, and a disrupted sleeping schedule. During that time, there is an increase in the level of cortisol in the body. Studies have shown that practicing affirmations daily can decrease the level of cortisol levels in the body, which can protect you from the extreme effects of stress.

Productivity

Are you tired of Procrastinating? Try Affirmations! They work wonders. When you repeat positive affirmations daily, they help you motivate yourself. Short and encouraging phrases such as 'I can do this!' or 'I am capable.' can help you incorporate motivation into your daily schedule.

Trust me, try these for a week and you will see your accomplishments are more in a day than before. Growth Mindset

When you have a fixed mindset, your growth stops. A fixed mindset is when you start believing that your abilities are fixed or limited. It can stop you from adapting to the dynamic circumstances in life.

But, when you practice affirmations, it helps you shift your mindset from a fixed to a growth mindset. If you practice your affirmations daily, they can xinspire you to become flexible and motivate you to be open to new possibilities. But, when you practice affirmations, it helps you shift your mindset from a fixed to a growth mindset. Improve Mood

There are times in our life when we don't feel great, and it is hard to even get through a day. Affirmations can help you instill positive emotions such as hope, joy, gratitude, and peace into your life.

When you repeat positive affirmations, your focus shifts from negative thoughts to positive feelings and thoughts. It boosts your self-esteem.

You must have heard about Hollywood actress Jennifer Lopez. The megastar says that her day is incomplete without positive affirmations. She dedicates 15minutes to positive affirmations daily. The Hollywood star credits affirmations for her success and says it also helps her stay grounded.

Now that you have read about the benefits of affirmations, you can start by creating your positive affirmations.

Please note that you don't always have to create your affirmations. Sometimes you can take up some general positive affirmations available on the internet. If you feel ready to make your affirmations, then these are the steps to follow:

• Find your what. Identify how you want your affirmation to help you feel/do. Figure out what you are struggling with and create your positive affirmations according to it.

• Affirmations are about "YOU", Not anyone else. Always use the first person in your affirmations. For example, "I am capable.", "I am worthy of love.", or "I love my body."

• Change negative affirmations into positive ones. Instead of using 'I hate my job', use 'I am creating a great new job.' When you repeat the statement, 'I hate my job.' your subconscious will focus more on hate. When you repeat the statement, 'I am creating a great new job.', it would be easier for your subconsciousness to understand and clasp onto it.

• Make your affirmations personal, and make sure that they are related to your core values.

Begin and End your day with Affirmations.

Starting your day with affirmations will put you in the right frame of mind. Even a few minutes can make a huge difference!

When you can start your day filled with positivity, it is right to end your day on a positive note as well. When you do your affirmation before going to bed, it can help you get a good sleep. Doing this at night will fill your mind with positive thoughts and energy.

Repeat your Affirmations slowly.

Don't be a Rap Monster when you are practicing your affirmations. Be slow and gentle when you repeat them. Take deep breaths when you are practicing them. If you want, you can close your eyes, which will help focus more on your statements.

Spare a few minutes to yourself from your busy schedule you will feel calm, positive, and at peace.

It is easier said than done, but there is no going back once you start doing it and see the results with your eyes.

Now I will take my leave and let you all manifest.
